Things

Big, tall, fat, small things.
All things that are around us.
Thin, flat, bulky too.

Krazy Night

After dinner I got ready
for bed when I got my clothes
I thumped my head, down
the picture went, crack onto the
floor then I heard someone
banging on the door so I screamed
“Mom get it” she says
“it’s your uncle Pat” so I had to
get it when I opened the
door nobody was there but a gust
of wind blew in my hair so
I slammed the door shut and went
back to bed for what I
find now is a creepy crawly in
my bed I got a tissue,
killed it, threw it out for now
it’s 2:00. I went to lay
down I can not go to sleep and
now I hear a little cheep,
cheep I look around, down, and under
my bed there was my little
sister and her little toy friend
so I scooted her out and
now it’s all about getting to sleep
you see but now my alarm
goes beep, beep, beep it’s time
for school and I did not
get any sleep. It’s been such
a krazy night.

Eric Alajko
Farm Animals

There are many farm animals
Like pigs and goats and
Cows that go moo,
The pig goes oink oink
And the mothers coo
Their babies as they go to sleep
And at night the farm animals
Don’t make a peep
But when morning comes
The rooster goes cock a doodle doo
And all the farm animals
Start to make noises too.

Justin Mook
Spring Haiku

When all the birds come.
The sprouting of the flowers.
Opening of pools.

Chelsea Szczesny
Nonsense Poem

The cars are honking
while she is walking
she sees all kinds of lights
flickering while she’s walking
the last things everyone heard
was a loud screak
and a bad scream
when the tire went
pshh they knew it
was flat the lady
didn’t see it coming
now she wishes she heard
that loud honking.

Rachel Wirtner
Tick-Tock

Tick-Tock goes the clock
as the creeky house sleeps

At half past three there’s
a very loud dong and still
the creepy house sleeps

The little mice squeek
they ran away from the
geek and still the old
house sleeps

When the morning comes
with the sun the birds
cheep as the house
creeks with the mice
squeaks and all the time
this was happening the
old clock still goes
tick-tock

I am

I am me
I am the brightest star in the sky
I am the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow
I am the sunshine of everyday
I am the rain that waters the flowers
I am the best part of your day
I am the sparkle in every smile
I am the punch line in every joke
I am the sunset that lightens your day
I am the horse that lightens your load
I am a butterfly in the summer sun
I am me

I am me! Like me
for who I am! I
am just me!

Embarassing
All it takes is a slip
a rip
a stain
the pain
oh here it comes
the blushing
the blood in a race to your face
rushing
out of the room
hide in a place so far away
so you can't hear anyone say
how embarassing!

My Heart

The beat of my heart goes boom
boom boom.
But sometimes it goes zoom
zoom zoom.
When I run fast it beats harder
bumpbum bumpbum bumpbum.
When I see you I get all jiggle
jelloly inside.
My heart just jumps for joy
bounce bounce bounce.
When I die my heart doesn’t go;
boom boom
zoom zoom
bumpbum bumpbum
bounce bounce
But I still feel jiggly
jelloly inside.

Chelsea Beszczynski
I Am Me

I am a butterfly, fluttering in the wind.
I am a flower, beautiful and growing.
I am a leaf, blowing in the wind.
I am a lion, roaring loud.
I am a book, full of knowledge.
I am the sun, very bright.
I am a star, shining deeply at night.
I am a heart beat, beating fast.
Really I am me.

You can't change me
You can't explain me
I am different
Yet the same
All I will say is
I am me.

Sudden Storm

Dreary, cloudy, dark
Threatening
The sky

Crackle, burst explode
In the air
Thunder

Zip, Zap
Flickering, glittering, sparkling
In the air
Lightning

Thrashing, hammering, bucketing
Falling water from the sky
Pouring rain

Swoosh, swish, whoosh
Drenched
Caught in the storm.

Shannon Bartz
My Horse

Thundering proudly with a click-clack
Galloping without a care.
Here I sit on my rocking chair,
Squick-squack, Squick squack.

Pounding through water and mud,
Splish-splash, Splish-splash.
With every step he races faster and
faster, stomping louder and louder,
Stimp-stopm, Stimp-stomp.

Never have I seen his tail so vulgar,
Swish-swash, Swish-swash.
Wait a minute he's coming this way!
Whoa boy! Slow down!
BAM!!...Before you knock me into
2.

The Clock

When I woke up, I heard a crash
I got up and zipped downstairs as fast as a race car
I kept looking around
and then I heard

The clock say tick tock
the chimes said ding dong
I heard it make a pop
I knew something was wrong

I ran to the clock
it laid there like a rock
I couldn’t believe
it could make such a thud

The clock was such a mess
when it made a boom like a car crash
everyone woke up
I ate cereal which made a
sound like snap, crackle, and pop like
rice crispies do

John Kling
Water

Splishing splashing
and sputtering the
water goes whoosh
out of the hose
the splishing is
like a child
in a tub then
the water splishes
and the cycle
starts over again

Jacob Berst
The Delight Song of Jake Berst

I am the sun in the sky
I am not the brightest star in the sky
I am the trees in the wind
I am the sand that sits on the beach
I am the ocean that glimmers in the night
I am the moon that brings in the tide
I am the clouds that blow in the blue
I am the bear running in the meadow
I am as cool as a summer breeze
I am as creative as a box of crayons
I am as lazy as a sloth

I am free I am free.

Lindsey Jakubczak
Basketball

When I get on the court
All you hear is swoosh. No
Matter what the team I
Always give them a push.

All you’re going to hear is a
Squeak when I make a
Move on my feet. And
All you’re going to hear is
The crowd going owe and
You’re in the back court tripping
Over your feet.

It wouldn’t matter how fast you
Are if you go vrm vrm because
I’d be going beep beep while
I’m going past you in this room.

Kayla Angelli
Butterflies

flutter flutter in
the wind
ding landing on
the windowsill

flutter flutter
in the wind
pitter patter
pitter patter
butterflies landing
in trees

flap flap
flying to their
home.
Whoosh
pushing
against the wind

Austin Gilbert
The Delight Song of Austin Gilbert

I am the puck sliding across
the ice
I am the air horn signaling the end of the
period
I am the crowd cheering the team on to
victory
I am the cold radiating off the ice
I am the swishing noise when the
puck hits the back
of the net
I am the sound of a player stopping
on the ice
I am the sound of a player hitting
the boards
I am the sound of the crowd
stomping their
feet on the bleachers

Who am I, I am a hockey player
and that’s who I always
will be

Michael Bravo

The moon shines brightly

Ryan Deck

Hockey is Poetry

I love hockey. I love to slap the puck. I like
to slam kids in the boards and crush the other team.
I like to yell when we win and stomp when
we lose. I hate it when the crowd boos
but love it when they cheer. Glass gets hit
when the puck goes wide. I like watching the
goalie snatch the puck out of the air.
The ice thumps
when it’s fallen on
but watch when
the zoom puck zips
past you.

Jordan Behringer

My Brother’s Rash

Tick-tock there goes the clock
Drip-drop there goes the mop
All of a sudden I hear a big crash
My brother’s going crazy because he has an itchy rash
Zip there goes my mom’s coat
Out the door she goes
Vroom went her car to the store
What should I do?
He keeps going boom!
Ding-dong there’s the door
There’s a guy to heal my brother’s rash

A Robbery Starts

A man walked into the National Bank
When the clock was going tick-tock
He shot the gun with a bang
The bank cashier said dang!

The police have entered the bank
Everyone had finally sank
There were too many robbers
But many more sobbers.

The police attacked with a pow.
Robbers said ow.
Some robbers got hit with a smack
The officers have the bank back.

Shopping

ZOOM…I rush into the store
I see all the sale signs galore galore
cha-ching I go to pay for my cart full of
clothes, OOH what a day!
I walk into aero and you can bet
you haven’t seen the rest of me yet
POWWW the dressing room door opens
eeeekk the door closes
I couldn’t help but strike all these poses
it’s the end of the day
two thousand dollars gone
I can’t help but yawn
how can so much money go so quick!?
when I tell my mom she’s gonna get sick
WOOSH just like that I’m out the door
I’m running so fast I’m not touching the
floor!

The Delight Song of Emma

I am the soccer ball being scored into the goal.
I am a palm tree swaying to and fro.
I am a fish shining brightly in the water.
I am the horse that runs freely across the plain.
I am the grain of sand being blown away into the breeze.

I am the pine cone on the very top of a pine tree.
I am the butterfly coming out of its cocoon.
I am the dreamer who dreams of these things.

You see, I am the dream.
I am the dream who dreams of these beautiful things.
Beautiful things that make up nature.
The kind of nature that makes me me.

Breeanna Supples
I Love Animals

There are a lot of different animals big and tall
But I like the monkeys best of all
They live in a jungle far and wide
Now here are the sounds you hear inside
Oh Ah, tweet, roar, sad but true bank and boom
The poachers are coming hear them chop
Through the heavy and thick bamboo they never stop
Bang there’s another shot
Chop there goes another stalk
Rushing through the jungle the animals must hide
Hear their cries far and wide
Tweet, ROAR!, where to go

The poor animals that are way too slow
Crash goes down a tree and hide in a bush
Wait do you hear that sound?
Silence is it safe to roam?

Meghan Dobson
Ding-Dong

Ding-Dong the doorbell rang,
Tick-Tock went Grandpa’s clock,
I went to the door and what,
Oh my Cha-ching oh my,
The man was like you won,
You won the jackpot.

Quack, quack, went the ducks,
Woof, woof went the dog,
I walked to my couch and,
Ring, ring the telephone rang,
It was the man who,
Was at the door,
He said no way that is mine,
My money, my money,
I went boo-who.

Ward Beaton

I was listening to my boom box
And it made me wanna sniff the rox
Until I realized they were bad and some weird things happen
to ur health
Like: some people think their gonna fly stealth
And your ears start ringing
U get really dizzy
Then your life becomes busy
You should realize drugs are bad
When your body smacks the ground
U call out for help but no one’s around
So here it goes drugs drown your life away

Life on the Ranch

The ranch is filled with many sounds.
Many animals on the prowl.

Horses and pigs,
Chickens and cows,
saying oink, nay, bark and moo.

Donkeys, pigs, horses, cows and ducks,
Hee-haw, oink, and nay,
Moo and quack,

This is life on the ranch.

Tara Benczkowski
The Delight Song of Tara

I am a leaf that dances with the breeze
I am a teddy bear that cuddles when you please
I am a hurricane, as messy as can be
Sometimes I'm so messy, it's tough to be with me
I am a snake, so sneaky, you don't know
I am a video, sit down and enjoy the show
I am a joke book full of laughter here and there
I am a smile and it shows I really care

It's hard to describe me,
I am many different things
I am a microphone
All different voices sing.
